FAQs
What is CBD oil?
CBD is short for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a naturally occurring compound that is extracted from the flowers, leaves and stems of the cannabis (hemp) plant.
How does CBD work?
It is widely accepted that CBD works via its interaction with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). Every human and animal has an ECS, regardless of whether or not they’ve ever used any type of cannabis product. The ECS is a ‘balancing’ system of sorts; that is, it helps to maintain homeostasis within the body, playing a vital role in regulating things like sleep patterns, mood, stress, fertility, pain responses and more. The body naturally produces its own ‘endocannabinoids’, while ‘phytocannabinoids’ such as CBD are produced by plants, and once consumed, have the potential to interact with the body’s ECS.
What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both members of the cannabis family. However, hemp plants tend to naturally have higher concentrations of CBD and negligible THC, whereas marijuana plants can contain high levels of THC. THC is the psychoactive compound, tetrahydrocannabinol, which is responsible for the ‘high’ experienced by marijuana users.
Can you get high from using CBD oil?
No. Bitola Organics CBD products are produced using only carefully selected strains of hemp plants, proven to have negligible amounts of THC. Once the plants are harvested and the CBD is extracted, our products undergo stringent filtration procedures which remove THC from the final product, leaving less than 0.3%. This ensures that it does not cause any type of ‘high’ for the user, and that the product complies with the law.
Are there any side effects associated with using CBD oil?
CBD is generally very well tolerated, especially at moderate dose rates. Even within the scientific literature, side-effects from CBD incredibly rare. To date, no customers have reported any side-effects for themselves or their pets. Despite this, Bitola Organics always recommend that you consult with your trusted healthcare professional prior to commencing use.
What is the suggested dosage rate for CBD oil?
Dose rates for CBD oil vary greatly from person to person, and between different species of animals. Please refer to individual product pages for suggested dose rates. Dose rates are suggestions only. As such, we recommend that you seek the advice of your trusted healthcare professional.
Does CBD show up on a drug test for my sport?
Generally, drug testing in sports as it related to marijuana usage is for the purpose of detecting THC. CBD will not test positive on this type of test. Testing protocols can vary between sports, and depending on the level of competition, therefore it is best to check with your sport’s governing authority.
